Welcome to dbO Home.
HANDCRAFTED FOR THE HOME INSPIRED BY NATURE
At dbO Home we make things by hand, slowly, thoughtfully and in small batches.
I founded dbO Home in 2005 after leaving nearly 20 years in the music business.
We left NYC for Litchfield County.
My vision was to create a collection of unique homewares for a bit of luxury everyday.
For us luxury is all about a soothing mix of tactile textures, natural materials and earthy hues created by hand.
The collection is anchored with the ceramics we make one by one in our studio overlooking a spectacular view of the wetlands in bucolic Sharon, Connecticut.
When my husband Daniel Oates joined me in collaboration the vision really started to come together. An acclaimed sculptor and toy designer,
he adds a distinct look to our wood and porcelain accessories, lighting as well as his bespoke furniture painstakenly crafted of highly figured woods.
In the big red barn across from the ceramic studio he handcrafts each wooden piece.
Textiles were a natural addition to soften the range so we were thrilled to find
artisans that could make our designs come to life.
We are committed to using sustainable materials, recycling our own materials as much as possible and working with local and Fair Trade artisans.
The dbO Home line reflects the natural beauty of our surroundings while maintaining a bit of the urban edge of the city we called home for so long.

dbO Home even greener now!
While I've already mentioned we make everything to order in energy efficient small kiln batches.
And our commitment to using sustainable materials and recycling and repurposing whatever we can...we are very pleased to also be able
to contribute to the clean energy efforts in our state of Connecticut.
100% of our electricity usage is offset by wind and small hydro energy generation through Sterling Planet and CTCleanEnergyOptions.
CARE
All our pottery is handmade stoneware or porcelain.
The stoneware products are microwave and dishwasher safe.
Our bowls, plates & platters are glazed with food-safe glazes.
We recommend using softscrub® or some other mild cleanser for stuck on messes or stains.
Of course the lighting should go neither in the dishwasher nor the microwave - just in case you thought it would be fun.
Each piece is unique and made by hand so colors and sizes may vary slightly and the sizes are approximate.
